Hingham battle but come away empty handed

Since moving back to the North Wymondham Community Centre the club has not dropped any points but both match's on mat 2 provided real scares early on but the closing stages in both saw Wymondham over the line. On mat 1 Mary Fisher, Melvyn Barker and Chris Mann won 39-5 as their opponents really struggled with the mat and opened up a 21-0 gap after just eight ends. On mat 2 Pat Saunders, John Jeffery and Jon Sparham beat J. Capell, M. Hunter and J. Hunter 17-12. The Hingham triple got to grips with the mat well and caught the Wymondham triple off as they lead 3-6 after seven ends and kept their lead after up till end 10 when a four and single saw the home triple take the lead for the first time. But Hingham were not done and levelled at 10-10 with four ends to go but then a dropped six put pay to their challenge as they finished losing by five shots.

Second session on mat 1 saw Hayley Osborne, Steve Easter and Mark Linsdell record another 39-5 win of the night as back to back five's on ends sixteen and seveteen provided another rout. On mat 2 Roger Steele, Jack Marshall and Debbie Sparham beat P. Roache, C. Powell and P. Groombridge 27-16. The end scoreline was a bit harsh on the Hingham triple who adapted well and gave the Wymondham triple a tough time throughout. After seven ends Hingham lead 6-13 but then dropped a 1,2,2,5,1 to trail 17-13. A four and brace further increased the scoreline to 23-15 after fifteen ends and in the end capped off a good performance by the Wymondham triple with Jack Marshall at two providing some crucial bowls at times.
