Pat and Brain recieve life memberships at clubs AGM

At the clubs AGM last night an emotional announcement was made as Pat Saunders said that herself and Brian would retire from bowling after being with club for thirteen years. She praised the club for it's spirit and said it's members make the club what it is. Over their 35 years bowling together Pat added this is the club they have enjoyed playing for the most but insisted the club would not bowl short and would play if absolutely needed. Chairman Melvyn Barker praised the work of the committee and all it's acheivements throughout the season. Winter captain Mark Linsdell labelled the past season as "phenomenal" having gone the whole Breckland campaign unbeated in the league and 5 pairs as well as winning the Dennis Moore. His highlight of the season was the final league game at Connaught B where the team came back to win both games in the second half to avhieve the 100% season. The Norwich cup final is still to be played and would mark the clubs most successful season ever. When votes took place on selcting the committee members a surprise twist meant that Debbie Sparham had been nominated by Pat and Brian Saunders for the position of Winter captain while Mark Linsdell had vowed to carry on. An overwhleming majority voted in favour of Debbie become the new winter captain, a position which she had filled in the mid 2000's and will sure to bring a new freshness to club having seen Mark Linsdell, Melvyn Barker and Chris Mann holding that position in turn for over ten season's. Steve Easter was given this season's acheivement award for his progress in the sport with the club, having made the decision to leave Harling in the Breckland league. This season will mark the clubs 30th anniversary having been formed in February 1989 and is hoped that something can be done to mark this milestone during the year.
