Club drops costly points at home

Thorpe Marriott were the second vistors of the summer league season and came away with two points more than what most people thought considering the clubs formidable home record since moving back to the North Wymondham Community Centre. The first session was mostly one way traffic with Jack Marshall, Jack Pye and Debbie Sparham winning 23-5 while Laura Hawksworth, Steve Easter and Chris Mann won 20-7. The second half saw another big win this time for Roger Steele, Steve Easter and Chris Mann winning 37-1 but Jack, Jack and Deb were stunned by Jenny Walker, Kath Frost and John Jarvis who won 9-14. A slow start saw the Wymondham triple drop consecutive three's on ends three and four and a further brace dropped on end six saw them facing a huge challenge at 1-10 down. John Jarvis was formidable at skip for Marriott and quite often when given the chance seized it, while managing to play both the challenging straight and swingy hands with ease at times. Although the Wymondham triple replied with a four late on and could of produced another it was not to be and the result now puts real pressure on the remaining fixtures.
