Club back on track after maximum win at Marriott

After the disappointment of dropping two points at home to Thorpe Marriott the club managed to win four close match's away to put them back in contention for the league. Neil Davidson, Steve Easter and Chris Mann edged their way to a 13-11 win against Jenny Walker, Ted Redwood and John Jarvis who pushed the Wymondham triple all the way till the final bowl. The triple had trailed 6-10 with five ends remaining but a switch to put Steve at lead seemed to work better and this produced seven shots over the next four ends to see them over the line. On mat 2 Laura Hawksworth, Simon Warnes and Debbie Sparham beat S. Redwood, K. Frost and A. George 11-6. Another tight match saw the triples level at 6-6 with four ends remaining but a late push saw the triple home with a 2,1,1,1. Second session saw Mann's triple face R. Perkins, T. Griffith and K. Frost and after a scrappy start managed to come through with five lots of three's and two braces when they had trailed 3-7. Sparham's triple made a better start against S. Turner, G. Clarke and T. Turner to lead 6-2 but a series of braces bought the Marriott triple into the lead with just two ends remaining at 8-9. Two great woods by Debbie on end fourteen produced three shots and with a tight last end the Marriott triple could only produce a single for a tight and much needed win.
