Much needed first maximum home victory in league

After only picking up a 6-2 home win last time out in the league this time the club grinded out a hard fought 8-0 win over Halvergate. The first session saw J. Sparham, J. Jeffery and C. Mann beat K. Greenacre, R. Walker and K. Cooke 13-10. Jon and John combined well together for most of the match which gave the home side an 8-1 lead after six ends. Keith Cooke played well at skip for Halvergate and produced the majority of their shots while Chris struggled to get into the match but played well enough to see his triple over line. A dropped four on end fourteen put pressure on the home side as they only led 12-10 but a single picked up on the final end was enough. On mat 2 M. Linsdell, D. Sparham and J. Pye beat R. Lamb, S. Lamb and Robbie Lamb 15-10. A solid start saw the home triple lead 7-1 after six ends, a couple of slack ends saw the Halvergate triple reply with a four and brace over the next three ends to cut the deficit to 9-7. Mark, Deb and Jack played well to win the next four ends by 6-0 to lead 15-7 with just three ends remaining which Halvergate won only managaing to score singles.

Second session saw M. Linsdell, D. Sparham and J. Pye beat K. Greenacre. R. Walker and K. Cooke 15-11. Mark, Deb and Jack made an even better start to this match picking up a four and three on the opening four ends to lead 7-2. But again had a wobble in the middle of the match after dropping two three's to see the scores level at 8-8 but again the triples response saw them win the next four ends by 5-0 to open up a 13-8 lead. The home triple played their part in consolidating after that as Kerry, Roy and Keith had collectively played better in this match but could only muster singles in the closing ends. On mat 2 J. Sparham, J. Jeffery and C. Mann beat R. Lamb, S. Lamb and Robbie Lamb 18-8. This was the most convincing win of the night as Jon, John and Chris outplayed their opponents on the night to record a comfortable win after they went 11-0 up after just five ends.
