Club survive scare to progress

The Norwich cup quarter final saw the club travel to fellow Breckland league opponents Forncett after they beat Hempnall on shots in the previous round. The team knew this would not be an easy tie and after two good wins in the triples by Lauren Swann, Melvyn Barker, Mark Linsdell and Billie Barker, Brian Saunders and Chris Mann with wins of 9-2 and 14-3, Forncett hit straight back in the pairs to level the match at 4-4. The second session of triples saw Mann's triple secure their second win of the night with another solid win of 12-3 giving the club a healthy shots advantage. Linsdell's triple went down 5-13 meaning another drawn session would be enough but with both pairs having lost in the first session it was going to be a challenge. Roger Steele and Debbie Sparham had a difficult night and went down 3-7 but a hard fought 8-4 win for Jon Sparham and John Jeffery was enough to see them through. After a poor first half Jon Sparham elected himself to go lead for the second match and this inspired a better perofrmance although they still had to come from behind but in the end earned a good win to progress to the semi finals.
