SMPT European Masters - October 2013
Chris lifted the European Masters singles trophy in Herentals, Belgium beating current world no. 1 Cecil Dillon from Ireland in a close final 9-8. In doing so he picked up £400 prize money, the European Masters trophy for a year, a gold medal and a winner's shirt. Mann won four of his five group games on Saturday to finish top going into Sunday's knockout match's. In the last sixteen he beat last year's joint no. 1 ranked player, Sweden's Joel Hager 14-6. His quarter final match was against defending champion Jonathan Payne from Belgium who he beat 12-6. In the semi finals he breezed to a 17-8 win over Belgium's Lucian Smeers to reach the final. Mann is the only Englishman to win a Short Mat Players Tour Event so far with other winner's of the other tournaments around Europe coming from Ireland, Sweden and Belgium. Chris is now currently ranked world number four with this victory and his next tour event he has entered will be in February in the English Masters in Bromsgrove although the Swedish Masters is the next SMPT event in January and Mann is yet to make a decision whether he will enter yet.
