One foot in final after maximum home win

A maximum 8-0 home win against Diss in the semi final of the summer cup first leg has given the club the best opportunity to progress to the final with only a point needed in the second leg at Diss. The first session saw Jack Marshall, Mark Linsdell and Jack Pye beat A. Biddulph, A. Bond and K. Newby 22-6. The home triple sailed into an unassailable 17-0 after eight ends and dropped just three ends in the win. Steve Easter, John Jeffery and Chris Mann beat M. Taylor, G. Atter and R. Davidson 15-10. Another good start was made by Wymondham to lead 8-0 after four ends. A dropped single and then four gave Diss hope but the home side won three of the next four ends to increase their lead to 13-7 after ten ends. This wasn't a brilliant performance by the home side and Chris was relied upon on occasions to produce shot woods throughout as they eventually ran out winners by only five shots.

The second session again saw a stuttering performance from Steve, John and Chris as they were at times fortunate to be 6-1 up after five ends against M. Taylor, T. Newby and K. Newby. That fortune soon evapourated as the Diss triple hit back to level at 6-6 after eight ends. The next four ends proved the turning point though as the home triple surged ahead to lead 12-6 with three ends remaining as Diss' performance had dipped leaving them with little way back into the match eventually going down by five shots. Jack, Mark and Jack were again in cruise control as they again only conceded on three of the fifteen ends and lead 21-1 after eleven ends against J. Davidson, G. Atter and R. Davidson. Their two big wins alone may have already given them a place in the final but nothing is assured yet.
