Club seal 2nd Norwich Cup win in emphatic style

After a bruising first leg win in the Norwich cup first leg at home to Halvergate eighteen months ago, the club were protecting a huge 14-2 win going into the second leg away. Just a win and draw would be enough to seal their second Norwich cup success and this was achieved in the first session triples. Jack Marshall, Jon Sparhm and Simon Warnes started slowly and trailed 0-six after just two ends but rallied back winning five of the last six ends to win 9-7 against Mike Harvey, Ray Lamb and Robert Lamb. Billie Barker played a strong game at lead in their six-six draw with Steve Easter and Melvyn Barker against Mike Tate, Keith Baker and Robin Amos which earned them the cup win in just the first session. Cup organser Selwyn Goldsmith and his wife Teresa were present to make the presentations. The match then continued to a finish with the pairs session next which saw Owen Cranston and Chris Mann produce a polished performance to see off Donna and David Lamb 11-7. Debbie Sparham and Jack Pye chalked up the only loss of the night against the inform pairing of Kerry Greenacre and Keith Cooke who never gave the pair anything in a 3-14 thumping. The triples came back out where Marshall,Sparham and Warnes picked up their second win of the night with a six-4 victory over Amos' triple. Barker, Easter and Barker recorded their second draw of the night against Lamb's triple 7-7. The pairs finished off the tie with two wins as Cranston and Mann won 9-4 against Greenacre and Cooke while Sparham and Pye beat Lamb's 12-six to conclude a 10-4 win and 22-six result over the two legs.

The club will now have to wait to retain the cup again with their being no competiton this coming season.
