Last three pairings salvage a lead into second leg

A gritty second half of the five pairs first leg away at Connaught B saw Wymondham come from an eleven shot deficit after the first two pairings to produce a five shot lead at the finish. Roger had a poor game at lead and in two wood pairs this is fatal as Deb had a lot of work to do but could not muster much. At 1-11 down the pair somehow produced four shots on end eight to give them a respectful looking scoreline in the finish. John Jeffery and Jon Sparham again struggled finding themselves 1-8 down. Jon moved to lead and this seemed to work as they scored four singles in a row, a dropped brace on the last end saw them lose 5-10. Brian Saunders and Melvyn Barker played well together winning six of the ten ends and deserved their 9-6 win. Mary Fisher and Chris Mann turned the tie completely with their 14-5 win which saw Chris play postively throughout and most times got the best results. Billie Barker and Mark Linsdell came through with a 10-6 win as the last four ends saw them pick up six shots without reply to give the club a five shot lead to take with them into the second leg.
